How to Prepare For the CISSP Exam?

How to Prepare For the CISSP Exam?

CISSP Certification stands amongst one of the most sought-after and elite certifications in the information security industry. Almost everything that you would be hearing about the CISSP exam is absolutely true. It is hard, it is terrifying and resource-intensive, but it is not at all impossible to pass it! Below, are some tips about studying for the CISSP exam and clearing it on your first attempt.

Tip No. 1. Obtain Knowledge about CISSP and its Prerequisite:

As you may have already known about the full form of CISSP which is Certified Information Systems Security Professional, also, you might have the knowledge about its creator which is the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium. CISSP certification, created in 1991, is a way for the candidates to demonstrate their knowledge and prove that they could establish and lead an information security program.

The CISSP exam is going to cover eight domains from the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) of the (ISC)2, they are mentioned below:

1.    Security and Risk Management

2.    Asset Security

3.    Security Engineering

4.    Communications and Network Security

5.    Identity and Access Management

6.    Security and Assessment Testing

7.    Security Operations

8.    Software Development Security

So as to get qualified to attend this exam, the candidates are required to meet certain prerequisites. First, you are needed to have at least five years of full-time work experience in at least two or more than two domains. Alternatively, you could satisfy the requirement with four years of experience if they have either a four-year college degree or an approved certification or credential. Second, you should come to an agreement to the Code of Ethics of (ISC)2  and explain on your application things like felony convictions as well as any other identification with hackers. Then, of course, you are required to clear this exam, which consists of enormous 6-hour, 250-question, 8-domain. The minimum passing score to pass this exam is about 700 out of 1000.

Tip No. 2. Make Sure to use multiple study sources:

You are required to go through two or three CISSP all-in-one study guides. It is considered as the best to start with the official CISSP study guide. These guides basically cover all the material in each domain. Plus, you need to go through the CISSP practice tests repeatedly which is available in plenty online. Even you should go through some good training program which you could gain it through the SPOTO.

Tip No. 3. Distribution and Estimation your time wisely:

Well, it might take you about two months to prepare yourself. You should review lots and lots of CISSP books for at least two to three hours a day every weekend. On weekdays, you should spare time in the evening; you should go for the test exams online, taking them over and over again until you could gain at least about 70% score in most of the attempts.

Tip No. 4. Strategy Establishment:

A good strategy which is also efficient enough for appearing in the exam is necessary to clear this exam in a single attempt. First, you should have to go through all the questions in order to make sure that your brain is on the same wavelength with the examiners or not. Then you should go for those questions which you are 100% sure about. Next, you should answer the ones which you are not quite sure about but thought that you might know it. That would just leave you with a few questions that, quite frankly, you might not have the knowledge about its answers. But as since the CISSP Exam is a multiple-choice exam, you should try to eliminate the two answers that seem clearly wrong to you, and then you could gamble by picking one of the remaining two.

One extra bonus tip that I would like to mention here is that you should get trained with a team of experts, which you could gain by joining the SPOTO.
